the conflict

Our battle is between two messages. The dystopian story of a group of freedom fighters who defended their country against an occupying army, and the second factual message of an army sent to support the police to maintain law and order, prevent a massacre and subsequent civil war.

Meet the veterans spearheading the campaign for justice

the opposition

The main enemy is our own government in Westminster. The disinterest and incompetence of ministers and their civil servants regarding the prosecution of veterans is the loudest silence in modern British politics. Second to that are the nationalists in the Legislative Assembly of Northern Ireland, some who are convicted terrorists.

the mission

PRESSURE

To pressure the UK government by all legal means and force them to stop the prosecutions.

British military veterans have been fighting to stop the prosecution and persecution of veterans who served in Northern Ireland between 1969 and 1999. Soldiers who were previously investigated and cleared are being repeatedly taken to court without new evidence for political gain.

We have been self-funding for four years but the continuing administration costs make it difficult to pressure a well-funded opponent (the government).

In the last four years veterans groups have organised protest marches all over the UK, letter campaigns to Members of Parliament, funding for legal support, pressured the Director of Public Prosecutions Northern Ireland to step down, delivered letters of protest and one legal argument to 10 Downing Street and we are still working hard.

We were influential in the last general election and were promised support.
Former British Soldiers who served in Northern Ireland are fifty-four times more likely to be prosecuted than terrorists. This is discrimination and breaches their human rights.
